The Earth and the Sky

In a patchy landscape of grass and shrubs stood a nervous god. The emotion was quite new to him, for there was nothing to fear in his home domain. The things beyond the heavens respected his dominion, and the Sun, Stars, and Moon all bowed to his will. Alucard, the first architect of the sky, was universally feared, respected, and loved in the sphere he called home.

Yet here, in her kingdom, the sky god was not quite so confident. It wasn’t a question of power, for even in another’s territory, the sky god could still call upon formidable magic. If they ever were to come to blows, Alucard was beyond sure he could fend off her attacks and make it back to his kingdom safely.

Rather, it was the nature of their encounter that had him so very worried. The sky god had never taken a humanoid form before, and despite assurances from his subjects, Alucard remained unsure of his form. He had manifested himself in a figure not unlike a young man in his late twenties, fitting comfortably into a smart-looking tunic and a pair of dress pants. His skin was a gradient of shifting blues, with his face echoing the darkness of a fading dusk and his hands resembling a beautifully bright, cloudless sky. The god’s eyes burned with starlight, and his hair, made of strands of cloud, fell nicely over his head but held above his eyes. The finishing piece of the god’s outfit was a long black cloak gifted to him by Helios, the noble of the sun, and Konshu, the noble of the moon. The cloak was animated with all the wonders of the sky, fading from a bright blue sky lorded by a shining sun to a star-filled night sky championed by a full moon.

In the god’s hand was a collection of stars painstakingly crafted into a constellation of flowers. He studied the glowing figure carefully for several moments, unable to dismiss the feeling that something was missing. The young god waved his hand, and the sky bent to his will. The morning sky darkened, revealing a brilliant canvas of stars twinkling in darkness. The work was evidently half finished, with giant patches voided and empty. Alucard involuntarily cringed at the sight of his unfinished art and scrolled through patterns, searching for something very specific. Finally, the missing piece revealed itself to him, a star in the far south that burned brighter than all of its siblings. The architect plucked The Southern Star from the sky, peered at it for a long moment, and placed it at the tip of the bouche.

With nothing more to distract himself with, Alucard resorted to adjusting his collar and pacing slowly. With each shift of his feet, a growing doubt rose inside the god’s mind. Perhaps she wasn’t coming. Maybe she had changed her mind and he was waiting for nothing. Had he already messed up before this thing had even begun? Just when the fear threatened to overtake him, a field of vibrant purple flowers grew around the young god, heralding her arrival.

Evelen, queen and caretaker of the Earth, appeared over the horizon, swaying slightly as she walked. Her skin was a radiant blend of earthy tones complimented by a flowing sleeveless dress woven from soft mossy fibers. A ring of pink flowers crowned a head of flowing golden hair, which was reminiscent of the color of wheat, glowing under the light of the sun. Her eyes shimmered with the iridescence of dew-kissed leaves, and as she slowly approached Alucard, she gave him a small smile that made his newly formed heart skip several beats.

“Hi…” he said, somewhat dumbfounded as the Earth goddess approached him. Her presence seemed to have wiped all rational thought from his mind, leaving him with the agency of a helpless leaf carried by the wind. The sky god never thought that it was even possible for him to have his breath taken away, and yet when he looked at her eyes, there seemed to be no line clever enough to be worthy of conversation with her.

“Hi,” Evelen responded, her smile growing slightly. She tilted her head slightly to look at the bouche of stars. “Are those for me?”

“Oh, yes!” bumbled Alucard, suddenly thrusting the bouche into her hands. “I made this.” As Evelen took the gift and turned it over, Alucard couldn’t help but mull over the inadequacy of his given form. Perhaps he should have made the arms a little bigger. His nose is a tad smaller? He was very sure he should have made himself taller. Yet Evelen didn’t seem to focus on these failings at all. She looked at the bouche with an entranced wonder as she admired it from all sides. “They are beautiful,” she said breathlessly.

“Just like you,” blurted Alucard, and immediately, his face sank into a darker blue. Had he, lord of the sky and designer of the heavens, just let that line escape his mouth? The architect internally sighed at the thought of Helio and Konshu laughing at his foolishness.

Evelen giggled, using the bouche to block her mouth. Petals fell off the sides of her head as she laughed, and pink flowers sprung around her feet.

“Thank you, you are very beautiful as well,” she said with only the slightest hint of mockery in her eyes. The earth goddess turned and gestured towards a set of nearby mountains. “Shall we?”

“Yes, of course,” said Alucard, flustered, outstretching his elbow and letting Evelen wrap herself around his arm.

The sky god wasn’t sure how long they were together, for time was a concept that hadn’t even been dreamt up yet. The two young rulers explored Evelen’s domain, discussing everything from their grand designs to their favorite pastimes to their first memories of creation. The architect of the sky could not remember a conversation so engaging nor a being that entrapped his attention so.

After exploring various fissures, plains, and deserts, the pair of rulers found themselves finally atop a mountain, staring up at Alucard’s unfinished patchwork of stars. As they sat, enjoying each other’s company, the sky god had noticed the encroaching light of both the Helios and the Konshu over the horizon, evidently eager to eavesdrop on the courtship. With a subtle wave of his hand, the lord of the sky dismissed the two spying nobles to the other side of the planet, tethering them together.

Evelen hadn’t noticed the motion and was eagerly asking the sky god questions about his work, pointing to different clusters of stars and asking for their names, and the reason for their existence. He answered these questions the best he could, as Evelen continued to admire his work with curiosity that seemed to go deeper than the core of the earth.

“I haven’t finished it yet,” confessed Alucard finally, averting his eyes from Evelen, “Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be happy with it.”

Evelen frowned. “Why? It’s beautiful.”

Alucard shrugged shyly, “I have a tendency to second guess no matter what I do. It is hard to trust myself, I suppose.”

“I understand,” said Evelen with a somewhat sad, yet knowing expression. She waved her hand absentmindedly, and a patch of grass grew out of the ground and then withered. “No matter how much work you put in and how much you think you have it perfect, there is always something wrong.”

Alucard blinked, “None of my subjects have ever been able to explain it as simply as you do.”

Evelen smirked and leaned her head against his shoulder, “None of your subjects are like me.”

“No…” said Alucard, looking up into the stars, “I suppose not.”

They sat in silence for a long while, with Alucard taking in every facet of the moment in an attempt to burn it into his mind. He felt the slight rise and fall of Evelen’s chest next to his. His mind was fixated on her nuzzling head to his shoulder. Every shift and moment of contact only brought the architect more joy and wonder.

The sky god wasn’t exactly sure what possessed him, but an odd set of temptations suddenly assailed his newly amassed body. He resisted them only for a moment before crumbling at their might. With a sudden, jerking movement, Alucard pulled Evelen off his shoulder and into a deep kiss.

The best way Alucard could describe the kiss was as if he were being struck by one of his own lighting bolts. For a single moment, their embrace was everything to him. His kingdom, the sky, and all his responsibilities melted away from his mind, replaced with only her and the flavor of her lips.

The two rulers rolled onto the ground, with Alucard pulling away for a moment to look down at his lover. Evenlen was panting slightly, the stars in the half-finished sky reflecting in her eyes. Immediately, Alucard felt his face turn an even darker blue.

“I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me-” said the sky god, attempting to get to his feet. However, Evelen reached out and grabbed his wrist with a stone grip. She licked her lips slowly as she stared Alucard dead in the eyes. There, Alucard saw a resolve that would outlast the mountains, and suddenly, he realized he wouldn’t be able to leave even if he had wanted to. Evelen raised her lips to his ear and whispered in a coy tone.

“We’ve spent all this time making these bodies; don’t you want to explore them a little?”

“I-” struggled Alucard, “Yes, but-“

“Stop second-guessing yourself,” whispered the Earth Goddess, pecking him on the neck. “Trust yourself.”

She slowly lowered herself back to the ground, her eyes never leaving Alucard’s dumbfounded face. Evelen reached down with one hand past Alucard’s waist and gripped suddenly, causing the sky god to gasp slightly.

“Looks like you have all the right parts,” she said with a mischievous grin as she started to massage his nether regions. With her free hand, she moved a strap off her sleeveless dress until it fell far off her arm. Evelen then gripped Alucard’s hand and brought it to one of her mountains. The sky god instinctively squeezed, and Evelen’s chin shot upward as a light moan escaped bitten lips.

Whatever reservations and nerves Alucard had were quite literally thrown to the wind by this noise. He fell upon her with the ferocity of a hurricane; his hands and lips rained over every aspect of her perfect body, looking for all and any possible contact.

As the pair continued, the sky god became more accustomed to the rhythm of their movements, and his motions became more refined. His touch became soft, yet loving, like a gentle summer breeze on a beach. As his hands traced her topography with an ever-light caress, he planted a series of kisses on her neck, small pecks like a pitter-patter of gentle spring rain. Eleven’s soft moans at every touch only encouraged the sky god, whose hands explored lower and lower on the goddess’s body until they eventually found themselves at the entrance of a fissure.

The sky god paused for a moment, causing Evelen to grip his nether regions tightly once more. She gave him another coy smile, “I think you can feel what I want you to do.”

Without hesitation, the sky god moved upon Evelen again, and the two rulers joined in a connection far deeper than either had experienced before. For a moment, Alucard wondered how he had ever existed apart from her. Their union felt so natural, so true as if their worlds were meant to have been together since the beginning of time, as if they were meant to be together since the beginning of time.

Their eyes were locked, each demanding the other’s undivided attention. Alucard slowly started moving his hips as Evelen’s body rose and fell to meet him. Evelen’s eyes were far into the stars as she bit down on her lips in a futile attempt to cap the moans escaping from her chest. With every thrust, the landscape around them responded vibrantly, filling with walls of grass and blooming flowers. As the pace increased, the growth of life only expanded as waves of green washed over the barren, patchy mountainside. Just when Alucard felt a rising sensation within himself and felt he couldn’t take it anymore, Evelen put a hand on his chest, stopping him. The sky god frowned, wondering if he had done something wrong; however, Evelen’s eyes were filled only with affection.

“It is my turn now,” she whispered, and with the force of an avalanche, rolled the sky god over in between her legs. Alucard gasped as he slid up to the end of her cavern. Evelen’s face turned to one of taunting as she slowly lowered down the rest of her dress, unveiling her upper half fully to him. The sky god instinctively reached up, but the earth goddess grabbed his arms and forcefully slammed them to the floor. She pulled her golden hair away from her face as she wagged her finger slowly at the desperate god. Ever so slowly, she began to bounce up and down.

Alucard’s body exploded with sensations he never even imagined. All he could do was stare dumbly as Evelen peered down at him, drinking in every micro-expression as she rubbed herself over him. The earth goddess moved with a tantalizingly slow pace at first, leaving the sky god whimpering for more. She grinned at every expression of elation and longing as she mercifully increased her movements.

The sky behind Evelen exploded with light, and with each new bounce, a star manifested into Alucard’s canvas. The winds whirled, tethering themselves into spheres and layers that lead to the heavens. Clouds formed and fell, amassing the water of the land into massive pools. The Earth continued to bloom as the green of the world expanded farther and farther, conquering more and more.

The two rulers continued their union, rolling over one another with seamless synergy. Alucard felt his hands interlock with Evelen’s, and his eyes never had the strength to move from hers. With every motion, thrust, and action that conveyed more love than words ever could even hope to try. With every motion, the deities expanded their works, bringing forth life and wonder that neither had been able to achieve on their own, and the two lovers remained bonded for all of eternity.
